Frequently Asked Questions
What types of care does Graceland provide?
Graceland provides a comprehensive range of care services designed to support older adults through different stages of ageing, recovery and rehabilitation.
Our services include:
• Residential Care (Long-Term Care)
• Short Stay / Respite Care
• Day Care
• Recovery Care
• Dementia Care
Today, Graceland operates two Care Homes, with a dedicated Rehabilitation Centre opening soon. After getting to know your loved one’s needs, we’ll recommend the most suitable care option and location.
Can residents continue seeing their own doctor?
Yes. Residents are welcome to continue with their existing doctor or specialist. Our team works closely with healthcare professionals to ensure care plans and medical instructions are followed appropriately.
Will someone spend time talking with my loved one, or only provide physical care?
Absolutely. We believe care is about relationships, not just routines. Our caregivers spend time talking, listening, sharing activities and simply being present. These everyday moments of companionship are often just as important as assistance with physical care.
What happens if my loved one needs medical attention?
If a resident becomes unwell, our team will respond promptly, notify the family, and coordinate with the resident’s doctor, specialist or emergency medical services whenever necessary. Families are kept informed throughout the process.
How do you help new residents settle in emotionally?
The first few days are important. We take time to understand each resident’s personality, daily habits, favourite activities and personal preferences. We introduce them gradually to the home, encourage participation without pressure, and keep families informed throughout the settling-in process. Our goal is for every resident to feel safe, valued and at home.
What if my loved one becomes more dependent over time?
Care needs naturally change over time, and we’re here to support families through every stage of that journey.
If your loved one’s needs evolve, we’ll review their care plan together and discuss the most appropriate options. Because Graceland offers different care programmes across multiple locations, we can often continue supporting your loved one within the Graceland family, providing continuity of care and familiar faces whenever possible.
How much does care cost?
The cost of care depends on the type of care required, the level of support needed and the home that is most suitable. Following an assessment, we’ll provide a personalised quotation with a clear explanation of what is included.
Are there any residents Graceland may not be able to accept?
Our goal is always to provide safe, compassionate, and appropriate care. Before every admission, we conduct an individual assessment to ensure we can meet a person’s needs while maintaining the wellbeing of all residents.
There may be situations where we are unable to accept an admission immediately, or where we recommend a hospital or another specialised service first. These may include:
- Individuals who require intensive hospital-level or acute medical care.
- People with unstable medical conditions that require continuous specialist monitoring.
- Individuals whose behaviour presents a serious and ongoing risk of harm to themselves or others.
- People requiring specialised psychiatric or mental health inpatient care.
- Individuals with highly infectious conditions that cannot be safely managed in a communal living environment.
- People whose care needs exceed the services or facilities currently available at the selected Graceland location.
If we’re not the right fit at the time of enquiry, we’ll explain why honestly and, whenever possible, help guide you towards the most appropriate care option.
